Vena Mae Croy Roark


Vena Mae Croy Roark was born in Fleetwood, Oklahoma, July 1, 1915, to George Truman and Susie Henry Croy. She passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007, at the Ryan Nursing Home, at the age of ninety-two. She and Sanford Roark were married May 17, 1934, in Terral, Oklahoma. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Oklahoma, and a member of the Church of Christ in Ryan since 1934. She worked as a nurse's aide at Ryan Hospital and Bowie Hospital. She also helped open the Ryan Nursing Home and worked there for seventeen years.

Survivors include: one son - Larry Roark and his wife Paula of Ryan, OK; one daugher - LaJean and her husband Wayne Hawkins of Ryan, OK; twelve grandchildren - Bruce Roark, Kevin Hawkins, Mike Roark, Tate Roark, Brent Roark, Darren Roark, Bryan Roark, Michelle Beard, Sherry Sparkman, Rhonda Thornbrough, Debbie McCrae, and Whiten Van Eten; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Roark was preceded in death by her husband Sanford, her parents George Truman and Susic Croy, two brothers - Dwight and Billy Croy, and two sons - J.T. and Duane Roark.

Funeral services for Mrs. Roark will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2007, at the Church of Christ in Ryan, with Rodger Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
