Madge Elizabeth Stephenson passed from this life Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-four. She was born August 13, 1918, to George and Maggie Hughes in Elk City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Stephenson was the owner/operator of Stephenson's Mill End Fabrics. She and John were united in marriage on January 2, 1939, in Comanche, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1978. Madge was a member of the Rebekkahs, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Women's Business Association.

Survivors include: two sons - Robert and his wife Marsha of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kenneth and his wife April of Haughton, LA; one brother - G.T. Hughes of Lubbock, TX; three sisters - Marguerite Green of Waco, TX, Maggie Belle Mitchell of Hobbs, NM, and Avis Krykendale of Crosbetin, TX; four grandchildren, Robert Hannah, Sean Hannah, Amanda Quintana, and Todd Matney; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Harrison and Bo.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Maggie Hughes, one daughter, Maxine Stephenson, and one brother, Charles Arthur Hughes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stephenson were at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 28, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Comanche with Gary Smith and Tom Hibbitts officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche First Baptist Church.
