Stella Madeline Elkins

Stella Madeline Elkins passed from this life on Wednesday, October 2, 2002, in Westbrook Care Center at the age of eighty-five. Madeline was born May 14, 1917, to Lon and Pearl Reid in Berwyn, Oklahoma. She lived in the Waurika community for sixty years. Madeline and Woodrow were united in marriage on October 29, 1938. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2001. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was also the owner/operator of Elkins Market.

Survivors include: four sons - Tommy and Greta Diehl of Lake Havasu, OK, Dutch Elkins of Hastings, OK, Rusty and Sherry Elkins of Waurika, OK, and Rick and Tracy Elkins of Kingwood, TX; two daughters - Linda and Nick Nicholas of Clarksburg, MD, and Judy and Jimmy Burns of Walters, OK; one brother Elmer Reid of Stockton, CA; three sisters - Ona Floyd of Waurika, OK, Nettie Ruth Cowan of Waurika, OK, and Lois Cochenour of Blackwell, OK; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Madeline is preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Pearl Reid, her husband Woodrow, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson, Ricky, and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elkins were at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2002, in the Waurika First Baptist Church with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
