Wilma Lucille Crutcher was born April 23, 1927, in Floyada, Texas, to John T. F. and Mary Ethel Tallant. Lucille passed from this life Monday, April 24, 2006, at her home in Waurika at the age of seventy-nine. Lucille graduated from Waurika High School in 1945. She and Kenneth E. Crutcher were married December 23, 1949, in Waurika. She worked for the U.S. Treasury Department in Dallas, Texas, typing checks during the war. She worked for USDA for five years in Waurika. She worked at Sheppard Air Force Base for a year before transferring to SAC headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked from 1959 to 1964. In 1981, she worked for the U.S. Postal service as a substitute rural carrier. In 1989, she worked as a Regular Rural Carrier.
Survivors include: two daughters - Leslie Caldwell of Spring, TX, and Mary Beth Smith of Arlington, TX; one brother - Grady M. Tallant of Longview, TX; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters - Louise and Floyetta.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crutcher were at 4:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika, with Audie Dorrough officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sorosis Club of Waurika or the First Baptist Church of Waurika.
