Loyce Juanita Bacon Parker
December 22, 2011 Loyce Juanita Bacon Parker left this world to be with her Lord and Savior. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Co., Oklahoma. On the day of her death, she was 92 years old. Loyce Juanita Bacon Parker was born March 2, 1919 on the EB Ranch East of Addington, Ok. She was the fourth child born to the union of John Floyd Bacon and Dora Lee Wyrick Bacon. She had nine siblings; Mrs. Eva Harrison, Bill Bacon, Mrs. Joyce Wall, Mrs. Helen Parker, Sonny Bacon, Charles Bacon, Mrs. Jean Neely, Ms. Betty Lou Bacon, and Mrs. Patsy Gorman.
She married her first and only love, Alvin Edward Parker on May 21, 1938 in Waurika Oklahoma. She and Alvin lived in Addington, Oklahoma, and then bought a farm east of Waurika, Oklahoma where she was a mother, housewife and help mate to her husband as they farmed, ranched and raised their family. She and Alvin were married one day short of 68 years when he passed away on May 20, 2006. Five children were born to this union, Mrs. Phyllis Jean Bilbrey, Mrs. Linda Jones, Mrs. Polly Aleene Ward, Mrs. Debra Loyce Boring and Alvin E. (Eddie) Parker, Jr., along with 13 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. She loved music, dancing, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, cooking and was a competitive fisherman. She had the gift of hospitality and made everyone who came to her home feel loved and welcomed. She could grow anything and made the best yeast rolls around. No one could make her rolls as good as our mother! She was a woman of faith and prayer and she loved all her family. She enjoyed playing dominos and putting puzzles together. Our sweet mother was a positive woman who tried to find good in everything and everyone. She had a "giving spirit" as it was always important to her to give something to each person who came to visit her.
She lived her life staying busy and sharing her love of laughter. Her favorite poem was "If" of which she could quote. She was an amazing survivor as well. She was the last living survivor of a Model A and train wreck in Waurika, Oklahoma on January 31, 1937 of which four other young people were killed and she was unconscious in the hospital for six weeks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Phyllis Jean Bilbrey and a grandson Bobby Ray Bilbrey. All her siblings, except for Patsy Gorman of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma preceded her in death. She was a member of the Addington Baptist Church in Addington, Ok. She had lived all her life in Jefferson Co., Oklahoma except for the last five years in Vernon, Texas.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Loyce Juanita Bacon Parker will be held at the Addington Baptist Church on May 19th at 11 am for her family and many lifelong friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Addington Baptist Church or the Addington Cemetery Fund.
