Louie Ray Barber

Louie Ray Barber passed from this life Thursday, October 17, 2002, in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of fifty-five. He was born January 20, 1947, to Elmer and Flora Mae Barber in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated from Okmulgee Tech College. Mr. Barber was a diesel mechanic for Permian for several years. He served his country in Viet Nam in the U.S. Navy. He and Patsy Rae Minnick were united in marriage on February 14, 1988, in Crescent, Oklahoma.

Survivors include: his father, Elmer Ray Barber of Fayetteville, AR; his wife, Patsy, of the home in Pauls Valley, OK; two sons - Brian Barber of Corpus Christi, TX, and Stephen Barber of Corpus Christi, TX; two step-sons - Michael Akins of Bellingham, WA, and Randy Akins of Rolston, OK; one daughter - Kimberly Keesee of Elmore City, OK; two step-daughters - Shelly Kessler of Ponca City, OK, and Candy Hourmozus of Vackerville, CA; one step-brother - Jimmy Chatfield of Midland, TX; one sister - Carolyn Summar of Dibble, OK; one step-sister - Twila Dunavan of Fayetteville, AR; eighteen grandchildren - Jody, Maranda, Gergory, McKenzie, Kendell, Madison, Reyna, Bobbie Rae, Elizabeth, Shannon, Shelby, Tyler, Jacob, Clinton, Jessica, Alex, Mya, and Natalie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Mae, in 1996, and one grandson, Kyle Ray, in 1986.

Funeral services for Mr. Barber were at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2002, in the Loco Baptist Church with John Murrell officiating. Burial was in the Dixie Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Pallbearers were Shannon Keesee, J.T. Murrell, Bufford Burton, Bud Sessums, Elmer Ray Skeen, Daniel Skeen, Jermi Irvin, and Domingo Perez. Honorary pallbearers were Shane Flanagan and Don Burton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
