Loreta Leith Reid

Loreta Leath Reid, ninety, of Duncanville, Texas, passed from this life December 14, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. She was born July 18, 1919, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to Ebenezer Leath and Jesse Troop Leath. Loreta lived in Wetumka until 1938, when she left for college at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. After college she moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she lived until 1957, when she moved to Dallas, Texas. In 1986, she retired to Waurika, Oklahoma, and later, in 2000, she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, finally moving to Duncanville, Texas in July of 2009.

Loreta married Quentin Reid February 21, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas. They owned a grocery store in Wichita until they moved to Dallas, where she went to work for Taylor Publishing for a time. From the 1960's to the present she has been a housewife. She was a Methodist.

Loreta was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Reid, her son Robert J. Reid, her parents, her sister Thelma Frogge, her sister Ethel Gerlach, her granddaughter Traci and her husband Jason Fish, and two great-grandchildren - Savannah and Samantha Shaw.

Survivors include: two daughters - Susan and her husband Tim Holthouser, of Statesville, NC, and Cynthia Shaw of Duncanville, TX; five grandchildren - Michael Shaw and his wife Karin of Milford, TX, Sara and her husband Jouse Paz of McPherson, KS, Casie and her husband Marcus Levering of Ft Riley, KS, and Cpl. Samuel Holthouser, USMC, Camp Pendleton, CA; her great-grandchildren - James, Justin, and Jenna Fish of McPherson, KS, Jocelyn and Jasmine Paz of Statesville, NC, and Robert L. Anderson of Salisbury, MD; and her loving nephews Nick Palmer and his wife Polly of Dallas, TX, and Dennis Palmer of San Diego, CA.

Graveside services for Mrs. Reid will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the Waurika Cemetery.
