Lorene Frances Auntie Wood was born December 3, 1916, to Junnie and Aaron Wood in Waurika, Oklahoma. Lorene passed from this life Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of eighty-six. Lorene was a nurse working for Dr. O.J. Hagg and Dr. Rosier for twenty-six years before retiring. She was also a long-time member of the Waurika Church of the Nazarene. She spent most of her retired years making porcelain dolls and unique and beautiful ceramics. She enjoyed gardening and could be seen working in her flower beds with her dog Fluffy Baby. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a wonderful cook. She loved children and cared for her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and sisters-in-law Irene Wood and Wanda Wood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers - Edgar, Cecil, Virgil and Lilburn, and two sisters - Bertha and Faye.

Funeral services for Lorene were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 12, 2003, at the Waurika Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Gordon officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
