Lola Ruth McCalip Leavelle was born January 27, 1919, in Bowie, Texas, to Jasper Travis and Gusta Ann Teakell McCalip. She passed from this life Monday, January 22, 2007, in the Regent Care Nursing Home in The Woodlands, Texas. She married Royce F. Leavelle March 27, 1934, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in September of 2001. Mrs. Leavelle was a retired federal employee, serving at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include: one son - Royce F. Leavelle and his wife Martha; one daughter - Norma J. Leavelle and her husband John L. Wilson; four grandchildren - Carol Wilson, Lori Leavelle and her husband Ken Dulany, Linda Wilson and her husband Barry Chambers, and Kaye Leavelle; and six great-grandchildren - Laura Chambers, Gregory Chambers, Joshua Dulany, Kimberly Chambers, Matthew Dulany, and Katherine Dulany.

Mrs. Leavelle was preceded in death by her husband, Royce F. Leavelle, Sr., her parents Travis and Gusta McCalip, her brother and sister-in-law Theodore and Ina McCalip, and her nephew Orland McCalip.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leavelle were at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Ryan, Oklahoma, with the family officiating. Burial was in the Terral Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
