Lloyd Oran Pee John Wright

Lloyd Oran Pee John Wright died at the Ryan Nursing Home in Ryan, Oklahoma, December 22, 2003, after a short bout with brain cancer. Pee John was born January 27. 1925, in Ryan, Oklahoma, one of thirteen children of Oscar Alton and Laura Verbena Penny Wright. He and Ella Mae Coffey were married September 16, 1944. To this union were born two daughters.

Pee John worked as a rancher most of his life, as well as doing construction work and farming. He started in the construction business working on various steel construction jobs and on missile silos in Oklahoma and Texas. Later he worked on several ranches and eventually had his own cattle business.

Survivors include: two daughters - Tommie Ann McCain and her husband Warren, of Ft Worth, TX, and Terri Ruth Morgan and her husband Ted, of Greeley, CO; four brothers - Kenneth Wright of Arlington, TX, Oscar Leon Wright of Decatur, TX, Huey Wright of Wylie, TX, and Charles Wright of Midlothian, TX; and two sisters - Lula Mitchell of Terral, OK, and Sue Fuhrman of Hurst, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae, three sisters - Mary Bright, Helen David, and Alice Stephens; and three brothers - Harold Wright, Billy Wright, and Douglas Wright.

Pee John was one of the last true cowboys in Ryan, and will be greatly missed by his many nephews, nieces, family members and friends.

Funeral services for Pee John were at 2:00 PM, December 27, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Ryan, Oklahoma, with Clarence Mize and Trey Smart officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
