Linda Lou "Porterfield" Overton
Linda Lou "Porterfield" Overton, 69, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life April 6, 2015, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Waurika. She was born September 24, 1945, in Claypool, Oklahoma, to Barney Harvey and Minnie Lee "Golightly" Porterfield. She was one of fifteen children and graduated from Ringling High School.
Linda married Don Ray Overton in Burkburnett, Texas, on November 28, 1964. She was a home health aide and really enjoyed working in elder care. She was employed for years at the AOK Motel in Waurika. She was known as a "Jack of All Trades." She loved fishing, being with her family, especially her grandchildren, and caring for her animals. She was a member of the Waurika Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James, Ronnie and Jack Porterfield, and her sister Diana Porterfield.
Survivors include: her husband Don Ray Overton of the home in Waurika, OK; one son Don Ray Overton, Jr. and his wife Lyzle of Waurika, OK; one daughter Leslie and her husband Benny Juarez of Waurika, OK; step son Jeff Overton of Gordonville, TX; brothers - Don Porterfield and his wife Norma of Waurika, OK; and Floyd Porterfield and his wife Idnell of Burkburnett, TX; sisters - Joan Lovett of Waurika, OK, Grace Porterfield of Wichita Falls, TX, Debbie Porterfield of Wichita Falls, TX, Vicki Porterfield of Oklahoma City, OK, June and her husband Bob Cantwell of Burkburnett, TX, Myrtle Porterfield of Waurika, OK, Nona Porterfield of Wichita Falls, TX, and Lenora and her husband Gordon Yenzer of Oklahoma City, TX; sister-in-law Joann Porterfield of Waurika, OK; grandchildren - Trey Overton and his wife Nicole, of Nocona, TX, Nicole Overton of Alabama, Jeffrey Overton of Waurika, OK, Nicolas Alvarado of Waurika, OK, Ethan Overton of Nebraska, Carmela Juarez of Waurika, OK, Aneesa Overton of Waurika, OK, and step-grandchildren Jeffrey Overton of Gordonville, TX, Alex Reed of Nebraska, Rebecca Reed of Nebraska, and Brandi Foster of Denton, TX; great grandchild - Cassly Childress of Alabama and step-great-grandchild Zander Overton of Nocona, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends, including her beloved church family.
Graveside services for Mrs. Overton will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the Sugden Cemetery with Noel Curington officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Pallbearers will be Ricky Porterfield, Benny Juarez, Donnie Overton, Trey Overton, Jeffrey Overton, and Tim Adkins.
