Laura Mary Margaret Henderson
Laura Mary Margaret Henderson was born June 22, 1916 in Gray County, Texas to Walter M. and May N. Felder Roberts. She passed from this life Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Waurika at the age of ninety-four. She and Lonnie F. Henderson were married in Shamrock, Texas on January 14, 1934 and moved shortly thereafter to western Colorado. They returned toWaurika, Oklahoma in 1972. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1995. She managed two restaurants in western Colorado. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika. She and Lonnie were also foster parents for eighty-five children over a twelve year period, both were charter members of Bookcliff Baptist Church of Grand Junction and Central Baptist Church of Clifton, Colorado.
She is survived by her children - James E. Henderson and wife Pat of Grand Junction, Colorado, Dorthy F. McCarthy and the late Kenton of Waurika, Oklahoma, Walter H. Henderson and wife Janice of Grand Junction, Colorado, Veryl F. Henderson and wife Cheryl and Darlene M. Kaneshiro and husband Tim all of Kaneohe, Hawaii, brother - Matthew Lee Roberts of Waurika, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 5:00PM Friday, August 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Dr. Veryl F. Henderson and Rev. Jeff McLemore officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-8PM and Friday from 9AM-3PM. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Missions.
