Larry Mitchell Lyon

Larry Mitchell Lyon, 73, of Bedford, Texas, passed from this life Thursday, June 30, 2016. He was born August 6, 1942, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Quanah Gus and Bonnie Laura (Mitchell) Lyon. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965, first in Baunholder, Germany and then in Vietnam. Larry was a truck driver, driving a cattle truck and later driving eighteen wheelers. He was an avid bike rider and in his early years rode broncs and then bulls in rodeos, but mostly was interested in riding horses. He was interested in studying geneology and was proud of his Scottish heritage, even traveling to Scotland and attending Scottish festivals.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Quanah Gus and Bonnie Laura Lyon, his twin sister Laura Lyon, his sister Kay Barris, his son Brandon Ray Lyon, and his brother-in-law Robert Armstrong.
Survivors include: his sister Gerry Armstrong of Irving, TX; his niece Susan and her husband Gary Etter of Colleyville, TX; his nephew Philip Armstrong and his wife Tonya; his niece Valerie Enger and husband Bob of Leawood KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. Lyon will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Hastings Cemetery in Hastings, Oklahoma, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
