Kenton W. McCarthy

Kenton W. McCarthy was born February 5, 1932, in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Warren and Helen McCarthy. Kenton passed from this life on Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the Jefferson County Hospital at the age of seventy.

Kenton graduated from Baylor University with a degree in accounting. He and Dorothy Henderson were united in marriage on August 23, 1958, in Waco, Texas. He was a Certified Public Accountant with McCarthy and Son. He practiced accounting in Texas, Arkansas and Florida until his retirement in 1993. He retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1972. He and Dorothy made their home in Waurika where he became active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also served as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the Waurika Planning and Zoning Board.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy, of the home in Waurika, OK; one son - Michael McCarthy and his wife Jill of Holyoke, CO; four daughters - Janice Hawkins and her husband Christopher of Merritt Island, FL, Carol Morehead and her husband Wesley of Owasso, OK, Karen Howard and her husband Rodger of Waurika, OK, and Michelle Rodriguez and her husband Leroy of Gulfport MS; one sister - Sandra Celia and her husband Nick of Dunnellon, FL; his mother-in-law - Laura Henderson of Waurika, OK; and ten wonderful grandchildren.

Funeral services for Kenton were at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
