Kelly Houchins passed from this life Friday, August 13, 2004, at the age of fifty-two. He was born August 14, 1951, to Jervis and Frances Houchins in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Houchins worked for Waurika Elementary School as bus mechanic. He and Patti Gray were united in marriage on November 26, 1977, in Hastings, Oklahoma. Mr. Houchins served in the Army.

Kelly loved his job and the people he worked with. His greatest joy was time spent with his three grandsons. They were his pride and joy. Kelly loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and farming.

Survivors include: his parents, Jervis and Frances Houchins; his wife Patti, of the home; one daughter, Shanna Hartman and her husband Joe of Comanche, OK; four brothers - Larry Houchins and his wife Linda of Norman, OK, Darrell Houchins and his wife Cindy of Alvarado, TX, Jim Houchins and his wife Debbie of Huntsville, AR, and Shawn Houchins and his wife Pam of Yukon, OK; three sisters - Nancy Sanders and her husband Gene of Blanchard, OK, Luanne Gage and her husband John of Stillwater, OK, and Tina Stewart and her husband Tim of Blanchard, OK; three grandchildren - Brendon, Ethan, and Kyler Hartman; his mother Sue Jones of Comanche, OK; and two brothers and sisters-in-law - Terrye and David Herron and Jim and Marsha Gray.

Funeral services for Mr. Houchins were at 4:00 PM, Monday, August 16, 2004, at the Waurika Church of Christ with Tim Stewart and Jim Stewart officiating. Burial was in the Hastings Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Oklahoma City.
