Joy was short (5'2") little (98 lbs) very fast and feisty. She was a fantastic softball and basketball player, skater and dancer. She started dating Johnny Pewthers as a Freshman and continued all through highschool at Mountain View, Oklahoma. She graduated highschool in 1955. Joy and John married September 25, 1955. Family meant everything to Joy. She and John raised three wonderful daughters; Janice Joy, Johnna Kim and Terri Dian. Whatever the daughters were involved in she and John were present (playing sports, piano recitals, showing pigs, steers and sheep, band concerts, plays and many many more.)
Joy loved to laugh. She was an avid fisherman and quail hunter for a very long time. She took all of her pictures and put them in albums by date. Joy loved to play cards and games. Above everything else Joy loved to be with and play with her grandkids, great grandkids and granddogs. There were many years playing on the boat, tubing and skiing. Then years of traveling in their RV to see all of her family.
Joy accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 9. She loved reading her Bible, being a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir. She was president of the Jaycee Jaynes and handled the rattlesnake photo stand for many years. Joy loved working at the bank and bookkeeping. She was awarded a plaque for the most hours as an Earth Team Volunteer with the Soil Conservation Service.
