John L. Woods

John L. Woods, 88, of the VA center in Lawton, Oklahoma, passed from this life September 18, 2019. He was born December 28, 1930, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to William Leroy and Bessie Gertrude (Birdsong) Woods. He married Billie Richardson June 1, 1949, in Henrietta, Texas.

He served his country in Korea as a U. S. Marine. He worked for the FAA as an electronics tech, building radar systems and the glide-slope antenna from air to ground. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo.

He was preceded in death by his wife Billie, his parents, his brother Jim, and his granddaughter Brittany Brown.

Survivors include: his children Terri and her husband Steve Gibson of Waurika, OK, Bill and his wife Sheery of Beebe, AR, Steve and his wife Karen of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mike and his wife Carol of Yukon, OK.; his sister Mary and her husband Charlie Abernathy of Waurika, OK; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the Waurika Church of Christ with Tommy Maxwell and Noel Curington officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugden Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika Monday during regular office hours and Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with the family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Charity.
