John J. Overstreet was born July 22, 1921, to John Stephen Overstreet and Ola C. Callahan, in Bowie, Texas. John passed from this life Sunday, October 3, 2004, in Ryan, Oklahoma, at the age of eighty-three. He married Martha Ann Henry August 11, 1943, in Abilene, Texas. He was a farmer and rancher. He also served his country as an Army medic in World War II from 1941 to 1946. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika, and of the Cattleman's Association.

Survivors include: his wife, Martha Ann, of the home in Waurika, OK; one son, John Stephen and his wife Joyce, of Waurika, OK; grandchildren - Jodie Roberts and her husband Tony, of Velma, OK, Todd Overstreet and his wife Shelly of Laverne, OK; Stephen Kingcade and his wife Joyce, of Iowa Park, TX; Matt Kingcade of Shawnee, OK, and Joe Kingcade of Waurika, OK; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Overstreet were at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the Waurika First Baptist Church with Clarence Mize and Audie Dorrough officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
