Johnny Monroe Mayfield

Johnny Monroe Mayfield passed away at his home at Eagletown, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, February 18, 2003. He was a former resident of Comanche, Oklahoma. Mr. Mayfield was born to E.L. and Dollie Barnett Mayfield on August 24, 1931, at Belcherville, Texas. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was on the Board of Directors of the Senior Citizens Center of Eagletown, Oklahoma.

Johnny and Bobbie Whitt were married at Moore, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1987.

Survivors include: his wife, Bobbie, of the home in Eagletown, OK; two sons - Johnny and Tanya Mayfield of Paducah, TX, and Cliff Lindsay of Foster, OK; seven daughters - Kathy and Louis Eschiti of Walters, OK, Jo and Robert Dean of Allen, OK, Lou and Kurt Griffing of Manor, TX, Betty and Dee Bowen of Comanche, OK, Reva Clark and Bobby Bowden of Comanche, OK, Treva and Bud Travelstead of Lavinia, TN, and Jerri Ann and Chris Fick of Ardmore, OK; two brothers - Joe and Wanda Mayfield of Bowie, TX, and Kenneth and Louise Mayfield of Mooreland, OK; one sister - Sue and Lee Booher of San Pedro, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; thirty-four grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one special friend - Buck Willis.

He was preceded in death by his parents E.L. and Dollie Mayfield.

Funeral services were held for Mr. Mayfield at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2003, at the Addington Baptist Church with Dee Bowen and Mike Bernhardt officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Comanche, Oklahoma under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.

Pallbearers were Bud Travelstead, Jerrell Bowen, Benny Downey, Donald Cunningham, Buck Willis, and Terry Moorehead. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Bowden and Chris Fick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens Center of Eagletown, Oklahoma.
