Joe Thomas Worley

Joe Thomas Worley was born December 8, 1937 in Waurika, Oklahoma. Joe Tom passed from this life Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Jefferson County Hospital at the age of 74. He was the second of three sons born to Florence and Willis C. Worley. He grew up in Waurika and graduated from Waurika High School in 1956. He attended Oklahoma State Tech at Okmulgee Oklahoma where he studied drafting. Upon completing his studies he returned to Waurika where he became a licensed funeral director and worked for the Willis C. Worley Funeral Home. In 1979 he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he worked at the Trade Winds Motel for several years before returning to Waurika in 1990 where he resumed work as Funeral Director at the Willis C. Worley Funeral Home. He retired in 1999. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika and he was a member of the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association. Joe Tom was an avid OU football fan and could be found come kick-off in his favorite recliner with coke in hand in front of the tv ready to yell at any referee that made a "bad" call. He also enjoyed watching movies including westerns, romance, comedy and suspense. You could say he was televisions first Siskel and Ebert. Joe Tom's most endearing feature was his infectious laugh. He loved to hear and tell a good joke, or bad joke for that matter. He truly rejoiced in the day that the Lord had made.

Survivors include - 2 nephews - Robbie Worley and Chris Worley, 3 nieces - Carmen Perkins, Heather Harris and Amy Ann-Marie Worley and sisters in law - Debra Worley and JoAnn Worley.

Funeral service will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Charles McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8PM.
