Jo Etta Martin was born August 11, 1924, to Reginald Euclett and Etta Vera Potts Hughes, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She passed from this life Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Meridian Nursing Home, at the age of eighty. She owned and operated Martin's Propane Company until her retirement. She was a member of the Ray of Hope Church.
Survivors include: three daughters - Dilynn Hayes of Comanche, OK, Belinda Colabro of Murphreysboro, TN, and Elizabeth Kaye Farmer of Spring, TX; one son - William James Martin of Bakersfield, CA; two brothers - Jimmy Ray Hughes of Horseshoe Bay, TX, and Jack Cecil Hughes of Guthrie, OK; four sisters - Francis Pauline Stephens and Donna Lou Romine, both of Guthrie, OK, Clara Ann Newsom of Duncan, OK, and Bobbie Latricia Presgrove of Comanche, OK; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martin were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, with Dow Pannell and Mike McCord officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
