Elise Virginia Jenny Black

Elise Virginia "Jenny" Black was the first of five children born to George Miller and Laura Braly King. She was born October 2, 1912 in the Riverview Community. She passed from this life Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Jefferson County Hospital at the age of ninety-eight. She graduated from Sugden School in 1933. She married Virgil J. Black on January 12, 1939 in Waurika, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with two sons, Earl and Gerald. Virginia was a reporter for Wichita Falls Times Record News and also a cook for Woods Nursing Home in Waurika. She retired from the nursing home in 1974. She was a member of the Waurika Church of Christ since 1976. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. (Duncan Chapter #39)

She was preceded in death by her parents - George and Laura King, husband - Virgil Black on October 3, 1963, son - Earl Miller Black on August 31, 1978, brother - Oliver L. "Son" King and sisters - Anna WainScott and Nellie R. Duncan.

She is survived by her son Gerald Black and wife Debbie of Duncan, Oklahoma, one sister - Dorothy J. Kafer of Henrietta, Texas,
five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and daughter-in-law- Wilma Black Rickard.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Waurika Church of Christ with Dr. Bob Harrison officating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM- 8:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 AM-8:00PM with the family receiving visitors from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Waurika Church of Christ.
