Jane Arlene McKelvain passed from this life on Friday, October 10, 2003, in the Duncan Regional Hospital at the age of sixty-four. Jane was born to Douglas Leroy Red and Alberta Nixon on July 8, 1939, in Comanche, Oklahoma.
After graduating Velma High School, Jane became a talented seamstress, working with Virginia Finnell. She always had a smile while willing to lend a helping hand. She was aloving mother and grandma, a great cook, and very handy with a needle and thread. Jane was president of the American Legion Ladioes Auxiliary. She was former member of T.O.P.S. and secretary of Weight-Away, both of Duncan. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Church of Christ and the Comanche Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her mother - Alberta Nixion, of Comanche, OK; three sons - Foster Douglas McKelvain and his wife Michelle, of Ragley, LA, David Wayne McKelvain and his wife Denise, of Shreveport, LA, and Robert Kent McKelvain of Parson, KS; two daughters - Regina Gayle Weir and her husband Ricky, of Comanche, OK, and Arlene Kay Broom and her husband Jeff, of Duncan, OK; one sister - Cedral Ann March and her husband Efton; eight grandchildren - Bobby, Renaa, Kimberly, Stephanie, Amanda, Melissa, Jordan, and Erica; and five great-grandchildren - Damien, Ricke, Briahanna, Brayden, and Alyssa.
Funeral services for Mrs. McKelvain were at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 13, 2003, at the Prairie Hill Church of Christ in Meridian, Oklahoma, with Mario Pineda and Dow Pannell officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton Boys Home in care of Prairie Hill Church of Christ.
