James Douglas Thomas, of
Ryan, Oklahoma, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, in All Saints Bishop-Davis
Nursing Center in Hurst after a short illness. He was 77.
James was born January 10, 1924, in Ryan to Douglas and Allene
Thomas. He attended Oil & Technical University and was an
engineering clerk in the oil industry, traveling to South America,
the North Sea area, Alaska, Texas, Louisiana, and California.
He retired to his hometown of Ryan to pursue his interest in raising
cattle.
He married Elsie Keen Thomas in 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Ryan
Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his former wife, Elsie; a sone - Mason Thomas;
and his wife, Amy, of Euless, Texas; three daughters Mabyn Hager
and her husband Duane, of Hurst, TX, Frann Kelley of Irving, TX,
and Lucia Thomas of Arlington, TX; cousins, five grandchildren;
and many longtime friends.
Graveside services were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 8, 2001
at Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of
Ryan, with the Rev. Steve Henshaw officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice.
