James Jim Owens died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the Meridian Nursing Home in Comanche, Oklahoma, at the age of sixty-one. He was born September 1, 1944, in Walters, Oklahoma, to John Robert and Liddie Mae Owens.

Jim married Frances Perkings in 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Survivors include: his wife Fran, of the home in Duncan, OK; three daughters - Melissa and her husband Justin McCown of Duncan, OK, Jamie and her husband Marty Bechtel of Duncan, Ok, and Lillie and her husband Steve Smith of Ardmore, OK; one son - Curtis and his Wife Brenda Owens of Duncan, OK; four sisters - Pat Phillips, Bobby Jo Reid, Jeretta, and Gail Hickey; five brothers - Ed, Art, Ricky, Bill and Dale Owens; seven grandchildren - Sierra Owens, Kyle McCown, Amanda Owens, Tiffany Bechtel, Christopher Bechtel, Alex Bechtel, and Jennifer McKee; three great-grandchildren - Stephen Michael James McKee, Brittany Christian Worley, and Hailey Elizabeth McKee; and his in-laws - Dee and Jim Wiggins, Jo Sellers, and C.D. White.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jimmy, a sister, Kathryn, and a grandson Timothy Willis.

Funeral services for Mr. Owens were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Lonnie Troutman officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche.
