James H. Gilchrist

James Hardin "Jim" Gilchrist, 78, passed from this life Wednesday, December 2, 2015. He was born July 21, 1937, in Ryan, Oklahoma, to Archie Hardin and Virginia Ruth (Givens) Gilchrist. He was a rancher. He graduated from Ryan High School and attended trade school.
Jim was an avid fan of OU and Ryan High School sports and the Dallas Cowboys. He was an involved sports fan, coaching little league baseball teams. He loved to go to Sticks in the mornings to drink coffee. He was generous to a fault, loved his dogs and country music, and was loved by everyone who knew him. He cared for his parents - his dad until he passed away and his mother until she entered the nursing home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: his sister Sue and her husband Harold Childers, nephews Terry Childers and his wife Lori, Steve Childers and his wife Leslie, and Jerry Childers and his wife Cindy; and niece Linda and her husband James Monchamp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Ryan with Steve Spangler officiating. Burial will follow in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Homes in Ryan. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Ryan. Pallbearers will be Bill Roberson, Terry Childers, Steve Childers, Chase Monchamp, Russell Givens, and Royse Lynn Reagan. Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or a charity of your choice.
