James Douglas Edwards, Sr., was born May 26, 1917, in Ryan, Oklahoma, to Jerrel Burt and Hettie Polly Ann Edwards. Doug passed from this life Wednesday, November 10, 2004, in Clay County, Texas, at the age of eighty-seven. He was a navy veteran of WWII. He was a lifelong rancher and resident of Ryan, Oklahoma. He was also a founding member of the American Painthorse Association, a member of the Quarterhorse Association and a member of the Bowie VFW. Doug opened Doug's Peach Orchard in Terral in 1948.
Survivors include: one son, Jimmy and his wife Tana Edwards of Ryan, OK; three grandchildren - Joby of Ryan, OK; and Stacy and Jamie of Lawton, OK; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy Lester Edwards of Gruver, TX.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Services were at 2:30 PM, Sunday, November 14, 2004, at
the United Methodist Church in Ryan with Bob Waitman and Steve
Harshaw officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery under the
direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
