James H. Cathey
James H. Cathey was born January 20, 1947 in Ryan, Oklahoma to James Daniel and Eula Mae (Travis) Cathey. Harold passed from this life Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Harold graduated from Ryan High School and obtained a bachelor's degree from Cameron University. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Vietnam Nam. He and Brenda Gail Cathey were married August 18, 1970 in Henrietta, Texas. She preceded him in death February 23, 2016. Harold was a veteran, a member of the American Legion, and also a firefighter for the Ryan Volunteer Fire Department.
Harold is survived by his children - Crystal Brooks and husband Jimmy, Amanda Timberlake and husband Willie, Dottie Burleson and husband Jeff, father -James Daniel Cathey and wife Goldie, brother- Johnny Cathey and wife Teleta, sisters - Sheila Sanford and husband Don, and Donna Cathey, granddaughters -Sierra Hamm, Savanna and Jaycee Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his mom and a sister.
Funeral service for Harold will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist church in Ryan with Rev. Steve Spangler and Ricky Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan with family receiving visitors from 5-7 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Legion in Ryan.
