Jackie Reece Barton

Jackie Reece Barton, sixty-seven, of Comanche, Oklahoma, died Saturday, March 4, 2005, in Duncan Regional Hospital. He was born September 26, 1937, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Vertis and Mable Barton. He married his high school sweetheart, Dora Biffle, November 21, 1956, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Mr. Barton served his country in the U.S. Navy. He drove and eighteen-wheeler from coast to coast for many years. He hauled hay and harvested wheat. He owned and operated service stations and worked on cars, trucks, combines, and eighteen-wheelers. He owned Jack Tools in Comanche, Oklahoma, where he began working on riding lawn mowers and small engines. He was also a foreman on a ranch.

He loved to hunt wild hogs and raccoons. He also loved fishing and turtle trapping. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include: his wife, Dora, of the home; two sons - Darrell Wayne Barton and his wife Beth, of Marlow, OK, and Jerrel Ray Barton and his wife, Sally, of Waurika, OK; a daughter - Vickie Marie Linke and her husband, John, of Comanche, OK; a brother - Harley Barton of Hemet, CA; a sister - Janet Clayton of Duncan, OK; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son - Jackie Reece Barton, Jr., five brothers - William L., Melvin, Leonard, J.C., and Clinton Barton, and two sisters - Marie Walcott and Marylin Bray.

Funeral services for Mr. Barton were at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 6, 2005, at the Comanche Church of God in Comanche, Oklahoma, with Rev. Doyal Patrick officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Pallbearers were Harold Rice, Jimmy Shaw, Buddy Combs, Kenneth Ketchum, Dick Cain, and Ben Shirley. Honorary bearers were Jerry Coy, Freddy McCord, Bobby McGowan, Mark Roebuck, Bob Ivestor, Jim Brasher, Bob Bowden, Charlie Cain, Wes Wrightmare, and Pee Wee McLamor.
