Idell Violet Mays passed from this life Saturday, May 1, 2004, in Fredricksburg, Texas, at the age of eighty-seven. She was born November 17, 1917, in the community of Irving, Oklahoma. She was the second of three children to Garrett and Gladys Mays. Ms. Mays was an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Freeport, Texas. She retired after thirty-one years. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her father Garrett Mays in April of 1919, her mother, Gladys Jo Mays in January of 1993, and her brother Othello H. Mays.

Graveside services for Ms. Mays were at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the Waurika Cemetery with Bro. Clarence Mize officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
