H.R. Bud Gandy

H.R. Bud Gandy was born July 19, 1912, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to H.R. Gandy, Sr., and Martha E. Phipps Gandy. He passed from this life Sunday, September 1, 2002, in the Jefferson County Hospital, at the age of ninety. He married Velva Ruth Zinn on February 10, 1942, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death August 8, 2001. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940 until 1944, and he worked as Student Union Manager at SWOSU from 1971 until he retired in 1986.

Survivors include: three sons - Bob Gandy of Wichita Falls, TX, Bud Gandy of San Clemente, CA, and Gary Gandy of Waurika, OK; one daughter - Veldean Reynolds of Marlow, OK; four sisters - Jimmie Horton of Corsicana, TX, Billie and Gene Wooley of Marlow, OK, Bettye Stover of Marlow, OK, and Armelda Simon of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters-in-law - Bobbi Zinn, Jo Zinn and Zola Zinn; one brother-in-law - Domby and Mari Zinn of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Gandy is preceded in death by his parents, H.R. Gandy, Sr. and Martha E. Phipps Gandy; his wife Velva Ruth; two brothers, Roy and Elmo, and three sisters, Gladys, Leila, and Ora B.

Graveside services were held for Mr. Gandy at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
