Homer Gene Brown

Homer Gene Brown was born July 21, 1934 in Jefferson County to Weldon and Claudia Phelps Brown. He passed away on June 15, 2013 in Wichita Falls at the age of 78. He was a 1952 graduate of Waurika High School. He and Charlene Snider were married in Waurika on May 31, 1952.
He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Halliburton for over 25 years until his retirement and then was a farmer and rancher in Waurika. He loved to watch sports of all kinds and played dominoes and golf. He served on the Waurika School Board for seventeen years and helped to start the Waurika Jaycees and the Waurika Rattlesnake Hunt. He coached his three sons in little league baseball and enjoyed rooting his oldest son's basketball teams to victory.
He is survived by his wife Charlene, mother - Claudia Guy of Waurika, OK, sons - Mike Brown of Indiahoma, Greg Brown and wife Donna of Waurika, and Mark Brown and wife Debbie of Rhome, Texas, brother - Charles Brown of Nocona Lake, Texas, sister - Dorothy Pollett of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, grandchildren- Christy Dunn of Ft. Worth, Texas, Bubba Brown of Hastings, Sarah Michel of Colorado Springs, Tyler Brown of El Reno, Miranda Brown of Waurika, Brandon Brown of Rhome, Texas, Shane Hoskins of Wichita Falls, Texas, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Weldon Brown, sister Mary Roy, and stepfathers - Leslie Gnagy and Odes Guy.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Bob Waitman officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-8PM with family receiving visitors from 5-7PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Waurika Public School Foundation or the American Heart Association.
