Homer Lee Brantley was born September 8, 1924, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Pleasant Alexandar and Josepha Carter Brantley. Homer passed from this life Monday, September 5, 2005, in Waurika at the age of eighty. He and Barbara Stroud were married March 10, 1952, in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was a truck driver for many years and retired after twenty-one years as a firefighter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waurika.
Survivors include: one son - Lester Brantley of Gadston, AL; three daughters - Loretta Richardson of Waurika, OK, June Wikel of Addington, OK, and Beverly Bailey of Duncan, OK; one sister - Genita Holcomb of Comanche, OK; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josie and Pless Brantley, three brothers - Gardner, Paul, and Russell, and one great-grandson, Jacob Ashbrook.
Funeral services for Mr. Brantley were at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Audie Dorrough officiating. Burial was in the Hasting Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waurika Volunteer Fire Deparment.
