Herschel Alexander Beaver was born March 8, 1918 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Jewel and Grace Talley Beaver.  He passed from this life Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Westbrook Care Center in Waurika at the age of ninety-one.  Herschel and Ozema Burris were married October 5, 1940 in Waurika.  She preceded him in death July 8, 2005. He worked as a machinist for Sheppard Air Force Base and farmed and ranched in Waurika.  He served his country in the United States Navy Sea Bees from 1942-1945. He was a member of the Waurika church of Christ.

Survivors include his children Darrell Beaver and his wife Carolyn of Waurika, Danny Beaver and wife Sharon of Tyler, Texas, and daughter Delores "D.J." Jenkins and husband Henry of Waurika; four grandchildren - Darren Beaver, Jason Beaver and wife Sarah, Cindy Jouett and husband David, and Bruce Beaver and wife Katy; and five great grandchildren   Brittany, Ryan, Caleb, and Peyton, Beaver, and  Shaylee Jouett; brother -A.J. Beaver and wife Yvonne of Wichita Falls, Texas and two sisters - Juanita Holland of Decatur, Texas and Mary Ausbrooks of Comanche, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ozema, sister Opal, brothers - Homer, Jasper, Homer, and Jake.

Funeral service will be at 10:00AM, Monday, March 16, 2009at the church of Christ in Waurika with Noel Curington officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be Saturday from 10AM-6PM and Sunday from 1-6PM with family receiving visitors from 4:30-5:30.

Memorials may be made to the Waurika Volunteer Fire Department or the Waurika church of Christ Building Fund.
