Herman Schaffner was born November 5, 1920 in Petrolia, Texas to John and Emelia Fechner Schaffner. He passed from this life Friday, November 16, 2007 at Comanche Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. Herman was retired from Halliburton and was a farmer. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He and Thelma Pinnick were married October 5, 1947 in Byers, Texas. They had five children. He married Neoma Hawley on November 10, 1978 in Wichita Falls.

Survivors include his children: Jim Schaffner and his wife, Terri, of Burleson, Texas, Sam Schaffner and his wife, Connie, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Becky Duncan and husband, John of Middleburg, Florida, and Joanna Dyer and husband, Mike, of Waurika; ten grandchildren: Bernice, J.J., Shannon, Stephanie, Jared, Jeremy, Rachel, Shawn, Karen and Jason; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Neoma on May 29, 2006, Thelma on January 28, 2007, and his son John Daniel Schaffner.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 19, 2007 at 3:00PM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Kelly Martin and Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 PM with the family receiving visitors from 4:30-6:00PM. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
