Henrietta Elenor Britton

Henrietta Elenor Britton passed from this life Wednesday, October 9, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital at the age of ninety. She was born August 30, 1912, to Karl and Henrietta Schwartz in Denton, Texas. Mrs. Britton worked as a nurses aide for Comanche Nursing Home for many years. She also was a homemaker and worked on the family farm and owned and operated a cafe. She and Dudley Britton were united in marriage on September 20, 1931. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1983. Mrs. Britton was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1938. She was the Past Nobel Grand of the Rebekka Lodge #149 in 1957. She was the Past District Deputy President in 1960. She was the P.C.M. of L.E.A. in Duncan Lodge #83 in 1966. She was Past President of Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant Chickasha #3 in 1968.

Survivors include: one son - Richard Carl Britton of Marlow, OK; two daughters - Ruth Jones of Comanche, OK, and Nancy Hopper of Lovington, NM; one sister - Dorothy Sachenhiemer of Harrah, OK; ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Henrietta Schwartz, her husband Dudley Britton, and one daughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Britton were at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 12, 2002, in the First Baptist Church of Comanche, with Gary Smith officiating. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
