Harmon Lindesmith

Lawrence Harmon Lindesmith of Waurika, Oklahoma, was born November 22, 1929 in Addington, Oklahoma and was led home by the Lord on September 28, 2019. He was the first of two children born to Lawrence and Abbie McGinnis Lindesmith. He lived all of his life in the Addington and Waurika communities, with the exception of 12 years from 1952-1964, where he lived in Forth Worth, Texas.

In 1950, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He served as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief on the B-25 bomber.

Harmon married Loretta Smith on December 24, 1951 in Henrietta, Texas, making their home in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1964, they moved back to Waurika where they made their permanent home and purchased the Waurika Implement Company which they owned and operated until 1976.

He worked as a welder, supervisor in aircraft manufacturing, was a hover craft test pilot for Bell Helicopter, owned and operated a John Deere dealership known as Waurika Implement Company, was Past President of the OK Implement Dealers Association and served six years on the Board of Directors for Rural Water District #1. He was active in farming, ranching and custom harvesting.

Harmon and Loretta made Hastings Baptist Church their church home.

Harmon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loretta; a daughter, Debbie Zachary and her husband, Cecil, of Waurika; one grandson and granddaughter, Casey and Carmaleta Pilgreen of Dean, Texas; four great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one niece, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jean Rivera.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dudley Funeral Home, Waurika, OK. Visitation will be held at the Dudley Funeral Home from 6-8 on Monday, September 30. Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Hastings Baptist Church, Hastings, OK on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Brother Charles McConnell and Pastor Glenn McGee officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Waurika Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hastings Baptist Church or Chisholm Trail Hospice.
