Lawrence Grover Roberts was born July 19, 1923, in Sugden, Oklahoma, to Charlie and Gertrude Boyd Roberts. He passed from this life Thursday, January 6, 2005, at the Jefferson County Hospital, at the age of eighty-one. Grover and Christine Rice were united in marriage march 28, 1947, in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Waurika, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He owned and operated Waurika Body Works with his brother-in-law Kenneth Rice.

Survivors include: his wife, Christine Roberts, of Waurika, OK; four children - Larry and his wife Jeannie Roberts, Glenn and his wife Michel Roberts, Brenda Estep, and Paula Driggers, all of Waurika, OK; two brothers-in-law - Andy Poage and Kenneth and his wife Birdean Rice, all of Waurika, OK; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen grandchildren; five and 1/2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberts were at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 10, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Rev. Kelly Roberts and Rev. Eric Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
