Gordon Orville Jerome Chalenburg

Retired Master Sergeant Gordon Orville Jerome Chalenburg of Ryan passed away Friday, September 8, 2006, in Nocona, Texas. He was born March 11, 1930, in Starbuck, Minnesota, to Rueben and Helen Hagesten Chalenburg. He was confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church at age eight. He attended school at Starbuck, Minnesota. Gordon married Milbria Ellen Turner in Lawton, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1950.

Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958, and served in Guam, Europe, Korea, and VietNam. He retired at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, May 12, 1972. He and his family returned to Ryan, Oklahoma to make their home.

Survivors include: his wife, Milbria, of the home in Ryan, OK; three children - Sonja and her husband Bob Gandy of Wichita Falls, TX; Carol and her husband Rusty Weatherly of Terral, OK; and Rick Chalenburg and his wife Sandy of Waurika, OK; several grandchildren and great-grandchildre - Brandie and Londi Reid, Caren Gandy, Kris and Maddie Chalenburg, Brian, Christi, Colton, and Kinsey Weatherly, Steven, Casey, andConner and Cooper Weatherly, and Morgan and Renee Gandy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Mr. Chalenburg were at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at the First Methodist Church in Ryan with Steve Harshaw and Paul Ratliff officiating. Burial was in the Ryan Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church Little People's Program or the Masonic Scholarship Fund.

Funeral Service will be held at the First Methodist Church in Ryan at 10:00AM Tuesday, September 12, 2006 with Steve Harshaw and Paul Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in Ryan Cemetery with full military honor under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home.
