Glenn W. Anthony, eighty-seven, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from
this life Thursday, August 9, 2007, after a long illness. He was
born south of Waurika July 13, 1920, to J. W. and Florence Mabry
Anthony. He was a graduate of Claypool School. He married Lula
Ethel Plant December 24, 1940, in Waurika. He served in the United
States Army during World War II. He held many jobs; farming, manager
of Custom Gin and Swift Produce, school bus driver and custodian,
and retired from from Halliburton in 1983 after serving twenty-five
years as security guard. His favorite hobbies after retirement
were his family and gardening. He was a long time member of the
Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters - Bonnie Lokey, Jewel Stewart, and Blanche Brittain, and two brothers - Tom and Earnest.
Survivors include: his wife of sixty-six years; one daughter Doris Pilgreen; one son Wayne and his wife Regina, all of Waurika, OK; five grandchildren - Christy and her husband Chuck Green, Debra and her husband Rene Rodriguez, all of Duncan, OK, Jennifer and her husband Ron Carr of Irving, TX, Jeff Anthony and his wife Kapin of Oklahoma City, OK, and Tammie and her husband Pete Rostant of Sachse, TX; ten great-grandchildren - Erikah and her husband Adam Miller of Stillwater, OK, Ryan Mora of Waurika, OK, Kalah Stricklin of Stillwater, OK, Sara Barnard, Daniel and Skyler Rodriguez, and Jarrett Green, all of Duncan, OK, Candice and Akira Carr of Irving, TX, and Audrie Rostant of Sachse, TX; one brother Claude Anthony of Waurika, OK; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Anthony will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the Waurika Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Lynn Plant, Rev. Richard Hayes, and Rev. Curtis Plant officiating. Burial will be in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday from10:00 AM to noon at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika.
