Gerald Keith Hall

Gerald Keith Hall was born July 25, 1932 to Daniel Cooper and Zona Mae (Joy) Williams Hall in Altus, Oklahoma. He left this world at his home on December 9, 2011, to go to his next reward. The family lived in Lamesa, Texas and Comanche, Oklahoma. He was a 1949 graduate of Comanche High School. Gerald served his country in the United States Army in Korea and was honorably discharged in January 1955. As he was on his way home from Korea, he called home to his sweetheart of four years and she asked him if he wanted to get married this Sunday or next Sunday and he said that it didn't really matter to him, so he and Alpha Fay (Peterson) Hall were united in marriage on January 16, 1955. And folks, this is the rest of the story. Gerald and Alpha moved to Lamesa, Texas in August of 1956 and their first child was born, Keith. They then moved to Terral in December 1956 where they started farming. In December of 1959 their second child was born, Joanna, and then they moved to Ryan January 1, 1960, where the family has lived to this date. In March, 1965, their third child, Anita, was born. They farmed and worked in the Ryan and Terral area for more than fifty years. Gerald served his community in a variety of ways, one of which was he sat on the Ryan School Board for two terms. There was not a more important way in which they served than their work with the Church of Christ. Gerald served in many ways there. He was a songleader, Bible class teacher and an elder for many years. In this very building in which you sit, he, among many other fellow members help build this building one board at a time. He loved the Lord and lived the commitment to Jesus from his youth up. When Gerald was 12 years old, he told his mother coming home from church one Sunday morning," Take my clothes tonight, mother, I'm going to be baptized." That night he went down the aisle, but not before his father stepped out and went down the aisle and became a Christian the very same time he did. He, like all other Christians, didn't live a perfect life, but certainly enjoyed the blessings of living in the Promises of Christ under His Grace and Mercy for the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gerald is leaving behind his wife, Alpha, of the home. His three children and their spouses: Keith and NaQuina Hall of Ryan; Joanna and Randy Ryan of Tishomingo; and Anita and Jeffrey Martin of Ryan.
