George Routt passed from this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the age of ninety-one. He was born June 26, 1910, to J.W. and Gertrude Routt in Byers, Texas. Mr. Routt was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church. He was a farmer. He and Frances Wood were united in marriage on September 3, 1936, in Hasting, Oklahoma.

Survivors include: his wife, Frances, of the home in Hastings, OK; three daughters - Frieda Herd and her husband Bobby E. of Duncanville, TX, Carolyn Clark of Denton, TX, and Dena Joy Paterson of Valley View, TX; one sister Johnie Myrl Preston of Pampa, TX; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Gertrude Routt and five sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Routt were at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 21, 2002, in Hastings Baptist Church with Ken Coleman officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
