Gary Keith Scott
Gary Keith Scott of Waurika, Oklahoma passed away October 1, 2009 in Lawton at the age of sixty-nine years and seven days. Gary was born in Waurika on September 24, 1940 to Kay L. and Marguerite Clark Scott. He graduated from Waurika High School in 1958 and from Oklahoma State University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Gary and Ann White were married September 2, 1961 in Waurika. Upon graduation from OSU Gary began his career as assistant hospital administrator of the Trinity Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas. He then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was engaged in the insurance business. In 1969 he formed a partnership with his parents and brother, Jack K. Scott, in the feed and pet supply business. There by building on the parakeet business started by his parents in the early 1940's, which became a national and international distribution center of birds and supplies. Waurika became the "Parakeet Capital of the World" as proclaimed by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1970. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann, of the home, daughter, DaRenda Diane Bush of Farmersville, Texas, and son, Eric Keith Scott and wife, Doris, of Waurika. He is also survived by grandchildren Kyle Bush, Kellan Bush, Derick Scott, Will Scott, two honorary granddaughters Mariah Gregg Prock and Kelli Gregg, a brother, Phillip R. Scott and wife Pat of Waurika, and two sisters-in-law, Kathy White of Oklahoma City and Carol Smith of Noble and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack K. Scott.
