Freda Fay McNeil Thompson passed from this life Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the age of 62. She was born January 6, 1940, to Joe and Fern McNeil, in Walters, Oklahoma. Mrs. Thompson was a hairdresser for twenty-four years, the janitor and cook for the Waurika Public Schools and also the head jailor for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. She and Hershal Olen Thompson were united in marriage on June 24, 1964, in Henrietta, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1995. She was a member of the Addington Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Paschal Hershal Thompson and his wife Darrelyn of Waurika, OK, Jimmy Thompson and his wife Barbara of Ratliff City, OK, and Ray Thompson and his wife Donna of Chickasha, OK; three daughters - Kathy Joe Kovash, and Patsy Ruth Wood of Waurika, OK, and Billie Fern Owen of Duncan, OK; one sister - Colleen McLemore of Addington, OK; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of special nieces and nephews; and special friends Dixie Deaton, Lois Hall, Dalene Latta, and Sandy Beavers.
She is preceded in death by: her parents - Joe and Fern McNiel; one sister - Jolene McNiel Thompkins; three brothers - Harold, Tracy and Charles McNiel; and two grandsons - Toby Lee Phillips and Jimmy Lee Thompson, Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson were held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2002, in the Addington Baptist Church with Mike Bernhardt officiating. Burial was in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
