Fern Jones

Fern Jones was born in Weleetka, Oklahoma February 2, 1935 to Ellis Jones and Mary Maxwell. She made her heavenly entrance at the age of 78, March 14, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Jones graduated from Clearview High School and attended Langston University. She later moved to Waurika with her parents in 1954. Fern enjoyed reading, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. Fern fought a long hard battle until she grew too weak to fight anymore. Although her will to live was great, the desire that God had for her was greater.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Betty Echols, Ferren Slade, and Alice Maxwell. Two nieces; Joyce Goree and Doris Harris. Two great-nephews; Virgil Johnson and Vernon Slade. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons, Craig Mims of Waurika, Oklahoma and Kenny Jones of Spencer, Oklahoma, one sister and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral service for Ms. Jones will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Lawrence Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika with Rev. Lawerence Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday March 21, 2013 from 9:00AM to 8:00PM and Friday March 22, 2013 from 9:00AM to 8:00PM.
