Fannie Clyde Jeffrey


Fannie Clyde Jeffrey, ninety-six, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Lake Leon,Texas. She was born September 26, 1911, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Charles R.and Carrie Alexander Cashion. In 1919, the family moved to Waurika, where Fannie completed high school. She married Ernest F. Jeffrey February 14, 1931. They made their home west of Waurika and Fannie became a farmer's wife. They lived on the farm until his death December 14, 1972. Fannie then moved into Waurika and remained there the rest of her life.

During World War II, Fannie was asked to teach school. She taught music, and during this time, her choir and several of her students participated in the state contest. For many years, Fannie used her musical talent for the Lord by singing in the church choir and singing solos. She was very active in the Farm Women's Group and was on the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women's Committee on which she oversaw nine counties. She and her husband were named "Farm Family of the Year". She was instrumental in the organization of the Farm Women's Choir in Cotton County and the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Sorosis Club.

Fannie was a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and her family, and her life was spent giving to others. She would share with others anything she had.

Survivors include: her sister, Mary Austin, of Cisco, TX; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Cashion of Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Susie Cashion, of Crystal Beach, FL; nephews - Bob Bodenhamer and his wife, Ila, of Norman, OK, Leo Liggett of Waurika, OK, David Shawver and his wife, Sandra, of Garland, TX, Paul Shawver and his wife, Karen, of Amarillo, TX, Bill Austin and his wife, Martha, of Lake Leon, TX, Steve Austin and his wife, Betsy, of Abilene, TX, Paul Jeffrey and his wife, Billy, of Hastings, OK, Larry Jeffrey of Sterling, OK, Linn Jeffrey and his wife, Pat, of Oklahoma City, OK, Jimmy Jeffrey & his wife, Betty, of Temple, OK; adopted niece Jan Thomas of Eastland, TX; and numerous great and great, great, nieces and nephews.

Fannie was preceded in death by two brothers, Ward Cashion and John Cashion, two sisters, Ruth Bodenhamer and Eva Shawver, three nieces, Beth Liggett, Mary Lois Slaton and Betty Davis and two nephews, Clifford Cashion and Charles Cashion.

The Jeffrey nephews will serve as pallbearers. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Reverend David Shawver and Reverend Bill Liggett, nephews, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Waurika Cemetery. Family visitation will be at the Dudley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waurika, the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and the Waurika Cemetery Association.
