Eula Mae Mays was born May 24, 1915, in Sugden, Oklahoma, to Hal and Karlee Nichols Smith. Eula passed from this life Friday, March 7, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of eighty-seven. She married Hubert Mays on November 18, 1933, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death January 10, 1995. She was a homemaker and worked for Shelton's Grocery as a clerk for many years. She was a member of the Waurika Church of Christ.

Survivors include: three sons - J.B. Mays of Bremerton, WA, Aurthur Fuzz Mays of Cameron, TX, and Curtis Mays of Wichita Falls, TX; one daughter - Gwen Brown of Nocona, TX; two brothers - Claude Smith of Lawton, OK, and Clyde Smith of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Karlee, her husband Hubert, two brothers, Wilton and Wade Smith, and one sister, Marcella Palmer.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mays were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 10, 2003, at the Waurika Church of Christ with Noel Curington officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
