Eugene L. Sloan passed away Friday, August 3, 2001, at the age of 83 in Durant, Oklahoma, at the Medical Center of South East Oklahoma. Mr. Sloan was born November 23, 1917, to Jessie Orlando and Iva Pless Sloan in Waurika, Oklahoma.
Mr. Sloan married Ana Pacheco on April 13, 1942, in Puerto Rico. He was a minister and pastor of the First Mexican Church in Oklahoma City, and Home Missionary for the Spanish-speaking of Oklahoma City. He taught English/Spanish at the high school level. He was in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
He is survived by: his wife Ana of the home; two sons, Eugene L. Sloan Jr. of Lake Dallas, TX and Carl Ray Sloan of Kenefic, OK; two daughters, Linda Dearborn of Erie, PA and Wenona Ann Alsip of Irving, TX; one brother, Garland Sloan of California; three sisters, Geneveve Webb of Portland, OR, Auda Anderson of Earlsboro, OR and Louise Scott of Irving, TX; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at First Baptist Church in Durant, OK with James Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.
