Esther Lokey Beaty

Esther Lokey Beaty was born May 12, 1915, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to James Joseph Lokey and Daisie Elizabeth Talley. She passed from this life Friday, November 14, 2008, at The Lakes Care Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of ninety-three. She was born and raised on a farm 3½ miles south of Waurika on Highway 81. She went to school in Sugden and graduated from High School in Waurika. She and Marion Lavorne Beaty were married November 9, 1935, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, and as a dog groomer and for WalMart after her husband's death. She was a member of the Greystone Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also the president of the Women of the Church, The National Society Daughters of the America Revolution, and The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her son Glenn Douglas Beaty and wife Dorla of Oklahoma City, grandchildren - Penny Lynn Shrum and Troy Douglas Beaty, great grandchildren - Christina Frazer, Rebekah Frazer, Joshua Beaty, Bethany Beaty, Madison Beaty, Victoria Miller, Jaxon Beaty, and Justin Shrum, and one great great grandchild - Sydney Beaty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beaty will be at 10:00 AM, November 19, 2008, at the Greystone Presbyterian Church (8300 Greystone Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) with Rev. Timothy Blodgett officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM at the Waurika Cemetery in Waurika, Oklahoma, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.
