Eric Arby Jones

Eric Arby Jones was born December 14, 1992 in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Teresa Denine Prestwich and Michael Gene Jones. Surrounded by his family, he passed from this earth after a sudden illness Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at the age of twenty.
He was a simple young man who enjoyed simple things. Though he was diminutive in stature, he was incredibly resilient, possessing tremendous strength of character. This was most evident through his numerous surgeries and medical struggles. These he often endured with no more than a grimace and an occasional groan. There were three loves in his life - daytime television, music, and family. He was happiest when he could share either of the first two with the third, his family. He attended and graduated from Duncan High in 2011 and upon graduation retired to home. He served as ambassador for the March of Dimes of Stephens County in both 1999 and 2000. He also worked at J.D. McCarty Center rolling newspapers. He was a stringent judge of music and motion pictures, often voicing his opinion whether favorable or not. He enjoyed blues and classic rock as well as gospel music. He also enjoyed action adventures and tense dramas. Additionally he enjoyed well-written and produced comedy. He was an avid fan of Oklahoma football. His was not a spectacular or flamboyant life but to those who knew him he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents - Michael and Teresa Jones of the home in Duncan, two brothers - Michael Glenn and Scott Mitchell also of the home, maternal grandmother Darlene Cannon of the home, paternal grandparents Noel Gene and Vida Jones of Sterling, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind a multitude of additional family, friends and teachers and caregivers too numerous to list. We will never forget his bright eyes, warm smile and infectious laugh.
Services will be at 10:00 AM. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Rev. Bob Waitman officiating. Burial will be in Sugden Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the J.D. McCarty Center for developmentally disabled children in Norman, Oklahoma or the Stephens County Humane Society.
